Dorothy, a liberal (!) environmentalist wordsmith working on a U.S. Senate campaign, is fired due to a botched protest. She returns to her conservative Texas hometown, where she discovers that her Republican childhood bully is running for state legislature, wanting to get in on the action where it’s “really” occurring (and jobless). Because only Republicans can win in this town, the only option is to go underground and run against him as a Republican. It complies with all legal requirements. Dorothy realizes that good vs. evil isn’t always as simple as left vs. right when on the campaign trail, unable to mask her emotions even as she plays a role.
